<image:title>Automated High-pressure Waterblasting - Case Study: Automated High-pressure Waterblasting for a 7000-tube Evaporator</image:title>
<image:caption>In a cold February, a major corn processor in Lafayette, IN had a major problem. Their waste heat evaporator had gotten completely fouled and was operating well below expectations. After their local contractor could not respond in appropriate time, they called Eagle Services. Eagle Services employed (5) 40k PSI pumps, (3) XY automated tube cleaning system with spinning nozzles, and an around the clock crew to support for 72-hour coverage. The evaporator had 3 chests with a total of over 7,000 tubes. The job was completed in under 72 hours safely and successfully. The corn processor was able to return to max production rates after firing up ahead of schedule.</image:caption>

<image:title>Automated High-pressure Waterblasting - Case Study: Automated High-pressure Waterblasting to Clean Paint Booths</image:title>
<image:caption>Paint booth bottoms had a build up of sludge which was hindering hydro bin air flow. The booth top was contaminated with dry paint overspray, which posed the threat of falling onto new car paint as production continued. Eagle Services waterblasted the booth top, walls, ceilings, and floor grating removing all paint. The booth bottoms were then hand scraped and vacuumed clean. Eagle Services moved to the paint sludge pits, removing over 400 cubic yards of paint sludge, utilizing 10,000 psi to 40,000 psi waterblasting and vacuuming. This project was completed safely and on time to allow the start of the production line as scheduled, and the line ran within the quality specifications of the customer.</image:caption>

<image:title>Automated High-pressure Waterblasting - Case Study: Automated High-pressure Waterblasting for a 3,000-tube Exchanger at a Chemical Plant</image:title>
<image:caption>A 3,000 tube exchanger at a chemical plant in Illinois is cleaned successfully. Hot product passed through the tube side; and cooling water passed across the shell side. The product had set up in the tubes and was not responding to conventional 20,000 psi waterblasting methods, so Eagle Services increased the water pressure to 40,000 psi. This proved to be the most effective, cost efficient cleaning method for the tube side of the exchanger. Meanwhile, as Eagle Services worked closely with the customer's lab technicians, it was determined there were no significant changes in the chemical properties of the product that could be attributed to the hardening of the product in the tubes. So we turned our attention to the shell side of the exchanger and focused on the exchanger's ability to cool the product. After obtaining and analyzing scale retrieved from a low point drain, Eagle Services and its customer determined it was necessary to chemically clean the scale from the shell side of the exchanger. Because of the type of scale found and the metallurgy of the exchanger, the solvent of choice was inhibited hydroxyacetic, formic acid in the appropriate ratios. Since this 48-hour episode, a routine maintenance schedule is followed; and this piece of equipment has not been down for more than 24 hours for cleaning and operates at increased efficiency between cleaning intervals.</image:caption>

<image:title>Automated High-pressure Waterblasting - Case Study: Automated High-pressure Waterblasting to Clean Rail Cars</image:title>
<image:caption>A corn processing company had a huge mess on their hands. Several rail cars had been over filled with corn oil and subsequently had spillage all over the outside of their rail cars. They had also received rail cars from another site where the grain inside had caught fire and was out of service. That company called Eagle Services Corp to solve these problems. Eagle Services utilized their fully automated robotic arm equipped with our high volume 305 hydro blaster to clean the outside of the rail car from a safe distance. After the outside of the rail cars were cleaned, Eagle Services equipped our hydro blaster with a 3D hurricane blaster accessory that broke up the material inside. After material was loose and manageable, Eagle Services Corp used one of their 60, 5000 CFM vacuum trucks to pull material out of the rail car and unloaded to an onsite roll off box. The satisfied customer put their rail cars back into service and carried on with production.</image:caption>

<image:title>Automated High-pressure Waterblasting - Case Study: Automated High-pressure Waterblasting to Clean Chemical Plant Reactors</image:title>
<image:caption>During a severe Midwestern snowstorm, the contents of a chemical plant's 20,000 gallon stainless steel reactor hardened inside the vessel. The hardened contents had to be removed before the reactor could be placed back in service. Due to the snowstorm, all roads, including a major interstate, from Eagle Services' normal service location were closed. Eagle Services' equipment was available from a southern location which was unaffected by the storm; however, the personnel with the proper credentials for the job were unable to drive to the plant. Eagle Services' personnel were taken to a municipal airport, via snowmobiles, and were airlifted by helicopter to the customer's location. At the same time, the equipment was delivered from Eagle Services' southern location. Eagle Services employed 30,000 psi water and vacuum equipment to remove material from the reactor and worked around the clock to successfully complete the project.</image:caption>

<image:title>Automated High-pressure Waterblasting - Case Study: Ultra High Pressure Water Cutting for Hydro Demolition of Coke Plant Decanters</image:title>
<image:caption>An integrated steel mill in Gary, IN shut down their coke plant and needed to conduct a full decontamination and deconstruction of the plant. The coke decanters were still full of coke tar and other hazardous and flammable material. Seeing as the material had become hard over time and there were no accessible manways, the mill was left with a big problem on their hands. Eagle Services employed a 40,000 PSI hydro blaster with a spark proof garnet injection system to perform “cold cuts” into the tank. Eagle then used large bobcats to drive into the tank to remove the material as well as air movers to suck out residual material. The mill was back on schedule to demolish the plant in their projected time.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A closed refinery had 8 miles of contaminated process sewers which needed to be cleaned and video inspected after the cleaning to document that they were free of contamination. Eagle Services removed the debris from the sewers utilizing sewer rodding and vacuum equipment, then transported it to an on site processing area where the debris was filter pressed to separate oils, solids, and water. The oil was recovered and recycled, the solids packaged for disposal and the water cleaned so that it met the owner's NPDES permit. Eagle Services documented the sewer cleaning with video inspection, a library of tapes, and a 2,000-page final report which was submitted to the owner. The project was completed on time and 20% under budget.</image:caption>

<image:caption>A soy processing plant in Quincy, IL had several fires inside their storage silos. After another contractor had several failed attempts of using a pneumatic bin wips, the plant decided to call Eagle Services Corp. We created a customized action plan, job hazard safety analysis, and executed it flawlessly. Eagle Services utilized a 20,000 PSI Pump with our 3D hurricane spinner, a specialized winch and tripod to lower the hurricane throughout the silo to remove bridging safely and successfully. Below, two vacuum trucks collected the material, swapping out for each dump.</image:caption>

<image:title>Industrial Wet/Dry Vacuuming - Case Study: Acid Tank Cleaning with Jackhammers & Vacuuming</image:title>
<image:caption>A sulphuric acid tank in Iowa developed bottom sludge. A horizontal, 18,000 gallon spent sulphuric acid tank contained approximately 12,000 gallons of sludge. The sludge had hardened and required jackhammers to break it up for removal. The sludge was to be disposed of off site, so Eagle Services made arrangements with a reputable, licensed waste hauler and a reputable, licensed disposal facility to provide roll off boxes, transportation and disposal. Two men were put inside the vessel wearing acid-proof coveralls over 23p Saranex suits and acid-proof boots and gloves with supplied air breathing apparatus. While one man jackhammered the material loose, the second man pulverized the material with a hand tool so it would go through a 6" vacuum hose. The material was then vacuumed up and loaded into a roll off box using a swing out cyclone vacuum truck. The exhaust from the vacuum truck blower was routed through a 3% caustic scrubber designed by Eagle Services. As the boxes were filled, they were transported to the designated disposal facility. Upon removal of all material from the tank, the tank was rinsed using a solution of soda ash and water and then triple rinsed with fresh water.</image:caption>

<image:title>Industrial Wet/Dry Vacuuming - Case Study: Machinery Cleaning</image:title>
<image:caption>Numerous hydraulic oil leaks on motors, gear boxes, lines, etc. on 160" Plate Mill's overhead cranes were causing product contamination by leaking onto plates in stock storage below. Many of the cranes had not been cleaned since the plant opened in 1964. The result was a buildup of up to 18" of baked and packed dust, grease, oils and scrap crane parts. A concern with crane cleaning is the water and soaps from the cleaning process creating a mess in the stock storage areas below. To prevent this, Eagle Services used plastic curtains, covered stocked product, and used vacuum equipment to control liquid and debris that are created during the cleaning process. Debris was dislodged and broken up using pneumatic hand tools and vacuumed. Eagle Services cleaning uncovered hundreds of pounds of scrap metal, electrical parts, etc. that were lowered to ground level and disposed of appropriately. Once the vast majority of debris and scrap was removed from the crane top, a minimal amount of water and detergent was utilized with a hot water pressure washer to clean decks, runways, and in particular, around motors, gear boxes and lines. By cleaning these areas, any leaks would be visible and noted for repair. This project had to be very carefully executed due to the large amount of electrical equipment on crane tops. At the conclusion of this project, stock storage areas were policed and left in a cleaner condition than when the project began. This project was completed safely and with extremely high satisfaction of the department.</image:caption>

<image:title>Hydro-excavation/Hydro Vac Services - Case Study: Utility Hydro-excavation</image:title>
<image:caption>A municipality was conducting a site inspection to repair damaged gas lines and to install a fencing system around the area. There were multiple hazards present including trenching and shoring hazards, further gas line damage, and it was located in a highly congested traffic area. Eagle Services utilized 2,000 psi Hydro-excavation equipment to locate damaged gas lines without damaging existing lines in the area and allowed a maintenance crew to conduct a safe repair. Eagle Services hydro-drilled precise holes and vacuumed loose soil for the contractor to successfully install a fencing system. Vacuumed soil was then dumped in a designated area to be used for backfill. The project was completed without any damages or injury in a full shift. Eagle's hydro-excavation technology is optimal for any form of underground maintenance or construction where hazards to utilities and equipment are present. It also ensures the safety and wellness of associated crew members on site. Due to the heated, pressurized water used for digging, frozen soil and other weather factors are eliminated to promote excavation projects year-round. Hydro-excavation also offers economic benefits because a smaller crew can accomplish more work in less time than conventional excavation resulting in cost savings to the overall project.</image:caption>

<image:title>Chemical Recirculation & Industrial Chemical Cleaning - Case Study: Chemical Recirculation to Remove Iron Oxides & Hard Water Deposits</image:title>
<image:caption>A steel mill needed to remove iron oxide and water hardness deposits from the water jackets on a blast furnace. Eagle Services was contracted to chemically clean two water jackets on the steel mill’s blast furnace which had become fouled with iron oxides and water hardness deposits. Due to the number of inlets and outlets, pre-job planning to achieve proper flow patterns and velocities was crucial. Through pre-job planning and scale analysis, Eagle Services came up with a process and procedure to execute the project safely and efficiently using a mixture of wetting agents and organic acids to remove the scale. Once the project started, Eagle Services executed reverse flows every half-hour and monitored the temperature at all ports with a heat gun to ensure that all loops were circulating evenly. We used an explosion-proof, waterproof rheostat control to adjust flow rates and pressures on its self-contained pumping unit as needed to achieve proper flow rates. Eagle Services then used analytical testing to determine when the systems were free of fouling. Because of the efficiency of Eagle Services’ system, this project was completed more quickly than originally estimated. The client was pleased with Eagle Services' professionalism and the timely completion of the project.</image:caption>

<image:title>Chemical Recirculation & Industrial Chemical Cleaning - Case Study: Preoperative Cleaning of Process Piping</image:title>
<image:caption>An oxygen line with down legs in Michigan required preoperative cleaning. In many cases, cleaning a process pipe or drain can be paralleled to cleaning tubes in an exchanger, and 10,000 psi water can be used. But in some cases, waterblasting is not possible. This was the case with a 1350' line that was newly installed for oxygen use. Although the line had very few bends, the need to clean its ten down legs made it impossible to "pig" it clean. After confirming the line had room for expansion and all the pipe hangers could be loosened, the cleaning method of choice was Vapor Phasing. Recirculation would have been difficult because the pipe ran 1350' in one direction with no lines available to return a solution or vapor. After fabricating a steam and chemical injection spool piece for one end and a cold water quench pipe for the other, Eagle Services put 300 pound steam to the line. Once the entire line was hot, the crew followed Eagle Services' procedure for new oxygen service line cleaning. The first stage was to degrease with caustic, soda ash, SMS, TSP and surfactant in the appropriate ratios. Stage two included an ammoniated citric at the proper pH and concentration. The final stage called for adjusting the pH with ammonia and then adding the proper amount of sodium nitrate to passivate. During each stage, the main line and down legs were cycled. All quench effluent was neutralized and disposed safely on site; and the ends of the pipe were capped until the line was put into service.</image:caption>

<image:title>Chemical Recirculation & Industrial Chemical Cleaning - Case Study: Chemical Application for a Fin Fan Air Cooler</image:title>
<image:caption>A power plant’s air cooler system was not performing to standard. After further investigation, their fin fans were coated with organics from a nearby cat tail and cottonwood vegetation outside of the plant. Eagle Services utilized their patent foam cleaning system that applied a low-pressure high-volume foam which attacked the organic coating on the fans, and after an hour of wait time was then rinsed off with a low pressure water system. The cleaning removed the foulant without damaging the integrity of the fans and the plant was back to running at full capacity.</image:caption>
